2013 2nd Place Award
Over the past decade, much of my work has been focused on the landscape of New York City. Shooting with a large format camera, I documented the urban farming movement in the city, the explosive building boom predating the economic collapse of 2008, and the seaside community of Far Rockaway. The thread that connects my images, besides geography, is a concentration on the tension between wilderness and civilization, between old and new. Cities are continually-evolving organisms, and the evidence of their transformation is a constant source of inspiration.
