My current underwater series Deeper explores the contrasting emotions of observing beauty and feeling fear when immersed in the mystery of the ocean. The images evoke curiosity about the ocean’s landscape and how it relates to what we see on dry land. My analog images range from literal to enigmatic depictions of the vast, random, and surreal elements of the underwater world and hint at a metaphorical representation of our own experiences in foreign worlds. I embrace the element of chance, both underwater and in my darkroom. The playful and experimental nature of chemistry allows me to explore magical and transformational results. This is what I love about analog photography, not to mention a satisfying final print.
